The 28th edition of the PagArt Festival officially began on 1 August with a recital by the distinguished pianist Lovro Pogorelić. This musical event marked the beginning of the cultural season on Pag, attracting the attention of classical music and art lovers.
Pogorelić performed his set in the Parish Church of the Assumption of Mary in Pag, where he played after a long hiatus. During the recital, he performed sonatas by three greats: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Ludwig van Beethoven, and Franz Liszt. His performance moved the large audience attending the festival opening.
The artistic director chose a quote from the Spanish artist Pablo Picasso for the opening address: “Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.” This motto sets the tone for the entire programme, which continues with a series of theatre and music events.
Following the musical opening, the stage will be handed over to theatre. The festival continues with the performance of the monodrama Spoon by Lee Hall. The main role is played by the actress Ana Pogorelić, who will present this powerful dramatic text to the audience.
The performance Spoon will take place on 3 August in the old town of Pag. This theatrical performance continues the series of cultural events prepared for visitors during the festival period.
The PagArt Festival is realised with significant financial support from several institutions. The main sponsors are the City of Pag, the Ministry of Culture and Media of the Republic of Croatia, and the tourist boards of the city of Pag and the Zadar County. The festival is also supported by the Austrian Cultural Forum.
