The 'Following the Jankovićs' event takes place on Saturday, 26 September, at the Janković Manor in Pakrac. The event brings the complex to life in the spirit of the 18th and 19th centuries, offering visitors a meeting with the past through theatre, old skills, gastronomy, music, dance and entertainment.
The programme is suitable for all generations, and entry to the event is free. The organisers are the Pakrac Town Museum, the Pakrac City Library, the Society of Hungarians in Pakrac, and the Pakrac Music School, with the event held with the support of the City of Pakrac.
History is brought close to visitors through a real 18th-century set-up in the courtyard of the Janković manor. Alongside historical characters and customs of the time when Pakrac and its manor were under the rule of the Janković family, visitors can experience what life was like in the manor.
This year's programme begins in the morning hours with activities for the youngest. At 11:00, the youngest will be able to watch the performance 'On Grga Čvark' by the Požega City Theatre, followed at 12:00 by the workshop 'Gardening like a noble', led by Daliborka Duchač.
From 13:00, the Noble Afternoon begins, with visitors treated to a beer banquet with the count, countess and empress. At 14:00, 'Dance and Song for the People' follows, in which the Hungarian cultural association Neptun from Osijek, the Prekopakra Czech community, the Association of Hungarians in the Virovitica-Podravina County, and the folk ensemble 'Boróka Senior' from Barcs present themselves.
At 15:30, 'Culinary delicacies with Countess Alžbeta Janković' takes place, prepared by Snježana Szabo, a tour guide and heritage interpreter (Interpret Europe). The countess's lottery or 'Luck Hunt' begins at 16:00, and at 17:00 the event moves to the Town Hall, where a Baroque party takes place.
In the musical part of the programme, the Zagreb Quartet, established as the first permanent professional ensemble of its kind on the Croatian music scene, which gave its first concert on 25 April 1919, performs. In Pakrac, the quartet performs in the line-up of Martin Krpan (first violin), Davor Philips (second violin), Hrvoje Philips (viola) and Martin Jordan (cello), playing works by J. S. Bach, J. P. S. Bach, I. M. Jarnović and J. Haydn.
At the end, the audience will be able to watch the film 'An Evening with Count Janković', prepared by students of the Daruvar Gymnasium.
