In the heart of Split, at the Prokurative, a special cultural event took place, attracting the attention of the public. A musical titled 'The Gull and I' was performed at this location, marking an important moment in local cultural life. Although the preparation for the performance was accompanied by certain challenges, the play was ultimately performed, satisfying the audience present.
The plot of this musical is based on verses by prominent Croatian authors, among them Jakša Fiamenga, Tomislav Zuppa, and Momčilo Popadić. Their verses form the foundation of the story, enriched by musical expression, transforming the text into a complete artistic whole. The musicality and textual complexity allowed the well-known songs, previously associated with the Split Festival, to be heard in a new, more solemn context.
A special moment occurred at the very end of the performance. The performers, led by Pero Eranović, prompted the audience to make a specific gesture. The audience, following the instructions, raised their 'Slobodna Dalmacija' newspapers in the air in a gesture of thanks and response. This act became an indelible mark of the evening, symbolising the connection between art, media, and the public. Although there were several obstacles in front of the stage, the success of the performance demonstrated the power of a collective creative act, leaving a lasting impression on all those present.
