Poreč has once again established itself as a key destination for cultural and sporting events, blending top-level competitive ambitions with a rich cultural offering. The town is hosting a series of significant events throughout September, attracting visitors from across the region and further afield.
The central event in the sports programme is the Croatian Open for the Optimist class, scheduled for 3 and 6 September. The prestigious competition, which brings together young and ambitious sailors, is organised by the local Horizons Sailing Club. In addition to sailing, the town offers a more dynamic sporting experience through cornhole, where the European Cornhole Championship is taking place. This event, which is hosted in the region for the second time, runs from 2 to 7 September, attracting competitors from various European countries.
In the cultural sphere, the main stage is dedicated to music. On the evening of 4 September, the 65th edition of the traditional musical cycle will take place. Set in the unique ambience of the Euphrasian Basilica, whose architecture is listed on the UNESCO World Heritage list, Croatian pianist Aljoša Jurinić will perform. This musical event, which blends the historical context of the space with contemporary performance, will take place at 9 pm, offering visitors a unique experience of classical music in a historic setting.
Parallel to the musical performances, the ARTisan fair will take place in the town centre on Monday, 7 September. This fair brings together local producers who will showcase their crafts, including local products such as honey, olive oil, and wine, as well as other local products. The ARTisan fair is also taking place on the Square of Freedom, where various activities are taking place from 9 am to 8 pm, including performances by artists, creating a special atmosphere that combines art, local produce, and community.
These events, taking place simultaneously, create a unique atmosphere in the town. Poreč, as a town offering a rich cultural and sporting experience, is becoming an increasingly popular destination for visitors from across the region, offering them a unique experience that blends tradition, culture, and sport.
