Ban Josip Jelačić Square in Glina was filled with the scents of freshly baked bread, autumn produce and various homemade products during the traditional Bread Days, which were also held to mark World Food Day.

Bread Days is an event that fosters gratitude for the fruits of the earth, preserves local heritage and passes on customs to younger generations. The gathering brought together numerous participants from the Glina community, who presented their works, products and prepared delicacies.

Pupils from primary and secondary schools, children from the nursery, members of associations—including mushroom pickers and the Glinske banice—as well as representatives of the Red Cross and city institutions, thus exhibited their creations.

The opening programme was led by Ivan Janković, Mayor of the City of Glina, who thanked everyone who participated in the organisation and preparation of this year’s Bread Days. He particularly highlighted the importance of children and their participation in city life.

“Today, on this beautiful autumn day, we have gathered again in our square, as we do every year. The sight of everyone assembled is truly beautiful, but the most beautiful sight is the smiles of our children. I believe that is exactly the most important thing this city has—its children and their smiles. That is why we do all of this,” Janković said.
