The Croatian public is saddened by the news that Ivan Cvitešić, father of the well-known actress Zrinka Cvitešić, has died. His death has deeply shaken the family, and the news of the loss was shared on social media by Zrinka’s sister Dinka, thereby announcing the sad truth to the wider public.
Ivan Cvitešić was a highly emotional man, whose gentleness left an indelible mark on the family’s memory. Although he was proud, he rarely took credit for his daughter’s success, instead watching her progress with pride. His support was the foundation upon which Zrinka built her career, and she felt his presence at every step of her artistic rise.
The family lived in an environment permeated by art, which was evident from childhood. Various artistic forms met in the house, and part of that cultural picture included the mother’s work with music. Ivan, on the other hand, was actively involved in folklore, and at the same time wrote short prose, testifying to his versatility and deep connection with cultural expression.
Zrinka’s success on stage, including the prestigious Laurence Olivier Award, is a direct result of the support she received from her parents. Her parents were her role model and support at every step, whether in competitions, concerts or theatre performances. Her early life experiences, including learning the piano, shaped her as an artist, and her dedication to her work reflects the family values she was trained in from an early age.
