Mirko Cetinski, the father of singer Tony Cetinski, has passed away at the age of 78 following a long and severe illness. The news has shaken the public, and his son paid tribute to his father with a touching message on social media.
Tony Cetinski wrote in a post that there are moments in life for which one is never prepared, including the loss of a parent. "My dear dad, there are moments in life for which a person is never ready. One of them is the moment when one must say goodbye to their own father," he wrote. "How does one say goodbye to someone who is part of you? To a person whose blood you carry, whose voice you remember, and whose legacy remains in you as long as you breathe?"
In his emotional message, he reflected on the relationship between father and son, noting that love is not always expressed in words but often through silence, care, pride, and small gestures. "My dad, there is so much I would still like to say. So many questions to ask, so many moments to share. And now, having lost you, I realise how precious were the ordinary things we took for granted," he wrote. "Life takes us along different paths. We do not always manage to say everything we feel, to hug each other every time we should, and we often think we have time for everything. But time does not ask us."
Tony Cetinski added that he does not wish to count what they did not manage, but rather to remember what they had. "Today I do not wish to count what we did not manage. I wish to remember what we had. All the beautiful, all the hard, all ours. For the relationship between father and son is not always woven from words. Sometimes it is in the glance, in the silence, in the pride, in the care, and in the love we may not have known how to show."
He thanked his father for the life he was given, for all that he had known and provided, and for all the lessons he had left behind, which he now fully understands. He expressed that he would give anything for just one more hug and one more conversation.
"Thank you, dad, for the life you gave me. Thank you for all that you knew and could give. And for all the lessons I may now only fully understand. I would like to hug you just one more time. Just one more time hear your voice. Just one more time have the chance to tell you the simplest and most important thing: I love you, dad," he wrote. "As long as I live, a part of you will live in me. In my thoughts, in my memories, in every step and in every song I sing with my heart. This is not goodbye forever. This is just my way of saying how much you meant to me and how much I will miss you. Rest in peace, my dad."
