Footballers from HNK Đakovo Croatia and Brod's Marsonija played a match in the 9th round of the Treća NL Istok at Pazarište, with the Đakovo side winning 4:0. The match was attended by around 400 fans, and the home team remained at the top of the table with the victory.
The match was overshadowed by an incident after its conclusion. A father, dissatisfied with his son's playing time, attacked Marsonija coach Veldin Karić in the corridor of the Đakovo stadium. According to witness accounts, the attacker first spoke with the coach about his son, then allegedly hugged him before suddenly striking him in the face with a fist. Karić held his face, and there was blood.
Police were called and intervened, detaining the aggressor. The individual is Dario Jurević, who was angry that his son had not been given a chance to play. Coach Karić ended up in the Đakovo hospital due to a nose injury, where he was discharged for home treatment after treatment.
HNK Đakovo Croatia is appalled by the post-match incident and strongly condemns all forms of violence. The club has expressed full support for Marsonija coach Veldin Karić. Both clubs have sent the message "stop all forms of violence".
The Đakovo club also warned about the responsibility of parents of young footballers, highlighting that all parents of the HNK Đakovo Croatia Football School signed a Code of Conduct for stadiums.
Jurević is known to the public for an incident in October 2024, when he physically attacked the main referee after a match between Marsonija and Jadran from Luka Ploče. According to the police statement at the time, he first shouted, then spat at the referee and struck him with a fist.
