Barcelona have confirmed the signing of Karim Adeyemi from Borussia Dortmund. The club announced that the contract is signed until 2031, bringing to a close the transfer process between the two clubs. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed, but media reports suggest the agreement is worth €22m with additional bonuses, including a sell-on clause.
Adeyemi, aged 24, arrives from the German side after spending the last two seasons there. Prior to moving to Dortmund in 2022, the player featured for Red Bull Salzburg. During his time at Dortmund, he recorded impressive statistics, making 146 appearances and scoring 36 goals in all competitions.
This move sees Adeyemi reuniting with Hansi Flick. The German coach was a key figure in Adeyemi’s career, having overseen his senior debut for the Croatian national team. Flick had identified his potential while managing at Dortmund, and now brings him to Barcelona where he will look to maintain high standards.
Adeyemi set several speed records during his time in the Bundesliga. His most notable was a speed of 36.65km/h, achieved during a 5-1 victory for Dortmund over Freiburg in the 2022/23 season. The quick attacker now becomes Barcelona’s second new signing in the current transfer window.
