Saracens have dismissed To'ia, the 21-year-old winger, following an incident on Saturday. He was dismissed with immediate effect, following a suspension of all his club duties while the matter was investigated.
The club stated in a statement that the board found his conduct did not meet the standards expected of anyone representing Saracens. "We take our responsibilities to fans, young people and partners seriously and remain committed to maintaining the standards of behaviour expected throughout the club," the statement read.
To'ia had been involved in an incident in a nightclub in June along with English cricketers Ben Stokes and Gus Atkinson. Both cricketers were present at the London nightclub when a member of the security staff was struck and remained bleeding, requiring medical assistance. According to reports, the blow was delivered by To'ia, who was not sanctioned for it.
The disciplinary committee of the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) found that the then England captain Stokes and fast bowler Atkinson had breached their contractual obligations, but both were cleared of violent behaviour in the June incident. Stokes and Atkinson were unavailable for the second test in England, where the team was defeated by New Zealand. Stokes was recalled to the side for the third test, after which he surprised the public by announcing his retirement from international cricket.
