Welsh Fire secured a convincing victory over Manchester Super Giants in a Women's Hundred match played at Old Trafford. Welsh Fire won by three wickets, moving them up to fourth place in the table. Manchester Super Giants scored 85-9 in 100 balls, while Welsh Fire reached 85-9 in 91 balls.
Irish international Orla Prendergast played a key role in Welsh Fire's success, taking 4-18 in her bowling figures. Prendergast was playing only her second match in The Hundred, coming in as a replacement for the injured Sophie Devine. Her performance was decisive as she broke the top of the Super Giants' batting order, with Welsh Fire falling to 24-4 after Prendergast dismissed Super Giants captain Meg Lanning for a golden duck.
Prendergast further contributed to Welsh Fire's success by dismissing Mady Villiers for 5 and Kathryn Bryce (4) lbw. Richa Ghosh was Prendergast's fourth wicket, caught in the covers for 11. Other dismissals included Heather Graham, who stumped Paige Scholfield (5) and Sophie Ecclestone (9), while Smriti Mandhana scored 15 before being run out after a risky single.
In Welsh Fire's reply, Tom Wareham scored 17 off 12 balls, and Sophie Ecclestone took 3-14 in her bowling. Ryana MacDonald-Gay was the top scorer with 18 not out off 14 balls, guiding Welsh Fire to the target. Welsh Fire reached 85-9 in 91 balls, which was enough to defeat Manchester Super Giants.
