Mate Zrilić, originally from the area around Benkovac and currently a resident of Krk, has achieved a new sporting success by swimming the stretch from Pag to Rab. The distance he covered was slightly more than six kilometres, and the entire feat took two hours and 45 minutes.

With this success, Zrilić continues his series of successful swimming segments in the northern Adriatic. Prior to this, he had already swum the route from Rabac in Istria to Cres, which is between 10 and 12 kilometres long, as well as the segment from Krk to Cres, measuring 10 kilometres.

Zrilić has also successfully conquered longer distances, including the route from Poreč to Rovinj, which is between 21 and 23 kilometres, as well as the segment from Rab to Krk, measuring 12 to 13 kilometres. These results indicate his endurance and readiness for more demanding tasks.

The main goal of this Istrian swimmer is to connect all the large islands and peninsulas of Istria in the northern Adriatic. Following the successful completion of the Pag to Rab segment, the next step in his plan is to swim the route from Pag to Cres. This segment will be significantly more demanding, with an expected distance of around 20 kilometres.

For the realisation of this success, Zrilić expressed his gratitude to David Hrabrić and a person named Peri from Rab, who provided the necessary assistance during preparations and the swim itself.
