Construction has begun on the 5.2-kilometre section of the Križišće – Jadranovo motorway. This section is part of the future A7 motorway from Križišće to Žuta Lokva, and in three years, drivers will enter the two-kilometre Križišće tunnel from the Sveta Trojica viaduct below Križišće.

Upon exiting the tunnel, drivers will travel a further three kilometres to the Jadranovo junction above Klanfar. The entire journey from Križišće to the Jadranovo junction will take three minutes. In addition to the two-tube Križišće tunnel, the route features two viaducts at the Križišće junction, as well as underpasses at Javornik and at the Jadranovo junction.

Hrvatske autoceste (Croatian Motorways) will invest more than €151 million excluding VAT in the construction of the Križišće – Jadranovo section, with GP Krk serving as the contractor. Construction of the 12.3-kilometre Jadranovo – Selce section is also expected to begin within a few months; the value of the works for this section is €252 million excluding VAT, and the works are set to last three and a half years.

Until the Jadranovo – Selce section is built, cars will descend from the Križišće – Jadranovo section onto the Adriatic Highway at the turn-off for the planned agro zone, one kilometre east of the petrol station in Jadranovo. This junction will serve as the western entrance to Crikvenica.

Construction of the section from Selce to Povile, known as the Novy Vinodolski bypass, is already well advanced. The first vehicles are expected to pass along the Novi bypass by the end of 2027, and the Selce junction, whose outlines are already visible, will be the eastern entrance to Crikvenica.

At the opening of works at the western portal of the Križišće tunnel, Minister of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure Oleg Butković emphasised the significance of the major project for this part of Croatia, as well as for him personally. Kraljevica Mayor Dalibor Čandrlić highlighted that the motorway is important for the development of Croatia and the entire region, a fact that the ancient Romans were aware of in this area. Marko Boras Mandić, President of the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County Assembly, recalled that he has been in county politics for over 25 years and that the motorway towards Žuta Lokva has marked that period.
