The construction of the expressway connecting Varaždin and Krapina is progressing according to plan, with the route fully cleared. The project, which encompasses the first section from Varaždin through Ivanec to Krapina, is valued at €315 million. During the first year of works, the entire route was cleared, and all planned deadlines following the initial permitting phase have been met.
The first phase of the project, stretching from Varaždin to Cerje Tužno, was inspected by the County President of Varažbin, Anđelko Stričak, along with members of the management board of Hrvatske ceste (Croatian Roads) and their staff. During the site visit, updates were provided on the current progress of the works. The government has approved a €100 million loan for Hrvatske ceste, part of which will be directed towards the construction of the continuation of the road from Cerje towards Ivanec.
The continuation of works towards Ivanč is currently being prepared, with the expectation that a tender for the contractor for the continuation of the route towards Ivanč, Lepoglav, and Đurmanec will be launched. The necessary documentation must be completed before the tender is issued. A deadline of 36 months is stipulated for the current phase.
The project is scheduled to be completed by 2028, with the end of the section located in the area of Krapina. Given that all previous deadlines have been met, it is expected that the subsequent phases of work will proceed without significant delays.
