The Prefect of Varaždin County, Anđelko Stričak, accompanied by numerous officials, visited the construction site on the Varaždin – Ivanec – Lepoglava – Bednja – Krapina section of the expressway. Accompanying him were Deputy Silvija Zagorec, Member of Parliament Goran Kaniški, and Alen Leverić, a member of the Board of Directors of Hrvatske Ceste (Croatian Roads). Also present at the inspection were the Mayor of Novi Marof and Siniša Jenkač, Vice-President of the County Assembly.
Also in the delegation were Nikola Žganc, Head of the Municipality of Beretinec, and Ljubica Hosni, President of the Vidovec Municipal Council. County Assembly members Zdenko Đurasu, Melani Gavrić, Ana Šelimber, and Marijana Škvarić were accompanied by other local female officials from the project area. Davor Bobičanac was also part of the entourage that inspected the progress of works on the ground.
The state of the construction site was reviewed with the presence of the Head of the Varaždin Business Unit of Hrvatske Ceste and Tomislav Osonjački, Director of the County Road Administration. County and municipal council members from the relevant area were also present at the inspection, indicating broad political support and interest in this infrastructure undertaking.
Special attention was paid to communication with the contractors and the supervision service. Representatives of the contractors and supervisory bodies were present on site to ensure the quality of execution and adherence to deadlines. This meeting at the construction site serves as an opportunity to assess the current status of the works.
This is a strategic project estimated to be worth €315 million. The investment aims to connect key settlements in the region and improve transport connectivity, which is of exceptional long-term significance for the economic development of Varaždin County and the wider area.
