Work has officially begun on the construction of a road bypass in Orebić, a project valued at nearly 50 million kuna (c. £6.5m). The route, measuring 6.6km in length, is critical for improving local and regional connectivity.
The works are being carried out by a consortium comprising Texno Molin d.o.o. and Yapi Merkezi. The partnership has taken on the obligation to realise the project, with the ceremonial start marking the beginning of the practical phase of construction for this vital link.
Senior officials attended the ceremony, including the Deputy Prime Minister, Branko Bačić, whose presence underscored the importance of the project for the development of southern Croatia. His attendance highlighted the strategic significance of infrastructure investment in the region.
The county administration was also represented at the event. The county prefect, Bozo Durak, and his deputy, Josip Cebalo, attended the occasion, emphasising the project's importance for the Dubrovnik-Neretva County. Their presence reflects local support and coordination with state authorities.
The local mayor, Tomislav Ančić, was also present, playing a key role in the on-the-ground implementation of the project. His attendance, alongside the representative of the national concessionaire, confirms the direct involvement of national authorities in the oversight and realisation of the works on this section.
