Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure Oleg Butković opened the reconstructed Vela Riva in Mali Lošinj on Monday, 20 July. Nearly €2.92 million including VAT was invested in the restoration of a section of the operational quay at the local port.
The project involved redesigning the port forecourt, constructing a new ticket office, repairing the sea wall, and improving public and horticultural facilities. The largest share of the funding, just over €2 million, was secured by the Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure. The Mali Lošinj County Port Authority contributed approximately €673,000, while the Primorsko-Goranska County contributed €212,500.
During his working visit to the island, Butković also inspected works on the reconstruction of the state road DC100 between Mali Lošinj and Veli Lošinj. The project, valued at €7.26 million, encompasses the restoration of approximately two kilometres of roadway, a new roundabout with access roads on the DC100 and the county road ŽC5159, as well as the construction of footpaths, a cycle path, and public lighting.
The aim of the road intervention, according to a statement from the Ministry, is to increase safety and the quality of transport connectivity in that part of the island.
