The contracts for the implementation of works on the revitalisation and renovation of Oštro beach, with a total value of EUR 2,368,331.15 including VAT, were signed in Kraljević. The project encompasses the revitalisation and renovation of 30,000 square metres of beach along the section from the KPA Adria premises to the entrance of the camp.
The contractor for the works is GP Izvedba from Grižan, with which a contract worth EUR 2,283,581.15 including VAT has been signed. The firm Rijekaprojekt is responsible for the technical supervision, while the supervisory firm is Marecon from Rijeka and MHM-Ing from Zagreb. The value of the contract for technical supervision is EUR 39,750.00, while the contract for design supervision is valued at EUR 45,000.00. The expected time for the implementation of the works is two years, with the first phase due to be completed by summer 2027.
The first phase involves the renovation of the coastal zone, seabed, and beach itself. The renovation of the coastal zone involves the construction of seven rock groynes and three concrete groynes with the function of protecting the beach. Two segments of the concrete shore are planned to be modified to reduce wave reflection, along with two underwater rock groynes. The project also includes the renovation of the upper parts of the beach to accommodate users of the public domain.
The second phase involves the renovation of the existing promenade with concrete paving, the landscaping of the surrounding area, and the zoning of the space for future concession permits. It includes equipping the area with urban and beach furniture, such as benches, pergolas, and changing cabins, as well as showers, a rescue station, and equipment for adapting the beach to people with disabilities. The second phase also includes the implementation of necessary electrical and plumbing works.
The revitalisation and renovation of Oštro beach is one of the activities within the strategic project 'Renovation of beaches in the urban agglomeration of Rijeka: Oštro and Banj'. The project is led by the City of Kraljević, with the City of Bakar as a partner. The project is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund through the ITU mechanism, with the EU project contributing EUR 1,824,006.00. The City of Kraljević has been allocated EUR 1,131,797.00 for the project, while the city of Bakar has been allocated EUR 692,208.00. The City of Kraljević will provide the remaining EUR 1,236,534.15 from its budget to ensure the realisation of the project.
The Mayor of the City of Kraljević, Dalibor Čandrlić, stated that this is the largest individual contract signed in Kraljević. In Kraljević, there was once the first bathing area on the Adriatic, built in 1891, which received an award in Vienna and Budapest for the best bathing area on the Adriatic. The mayor of Bakar, Tomislav Klarić, recalled that on the devastated platform of the power station were the Skrljeva and Kuklja beaches, as well as the beach of Bakrani. The Head of the Department for Integrated Territorial Investments of the City of Rijeka, Ivana Soža, welcomed the gathered crowd and expressed satisfaction with the realisation of the project, which is being carried out within the urban agglomeration of Rijeka, with the city of Rijeka as the centre.
