Polish police have received information about a possible attack on Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz. The information was published on Sunday by the spokesperson for the Ministry of the Interior, Karolina Gałecka, on the social media platform X.

The Minister of the Interior, Marcin Kierwiński, and the coordinator of the special services, Tomasz Siemoniak, have ordered measures to be taken in this case. A meeting is to be held at 11:00 at the Anti-Terrorism Centre of the Internal Security Agency (ABW), with representatives of the police, the State Protection Service, and ABW personnel attending.

Polish authorities have been placed on high alert following a wave of violence in schools. This wave ended on Thursday with the death of a school caretaker. On that day, a 15-year-old former student attacked staff at a school in the village of Leszczynd-Nowiny, approximately 50 kilometres from Warsaw. A 37-year-old woman was killed in the attack, while the director and a teacher were injured. The teenage suspect has been arrested.

The day before, a 19-year-old had attacked several people with a sharp object, injuring nine. On Saturday, a third attack occurred at a private school in the Praga district of Warsaw. A woman injured three people with a sharp object, including two 17-year-olds. No one suffered life-threatening injuries, and the attacker was taken into custody.

Prime Minister Tusk held a special meeting with ministers and security services, stating that the findings so far do not indicate the existence of an organised group coordinating the attacks. According to Mr Tusk, the incidents were largely spontaneous acts of violence linked to online activity and the glorification of perpetrators by users. Police have arrested dozens of people across the country on suspicion of threatening behaviour and illegal possession of weapons, while security checks continue over the weekend.

There is no confirmation that the information about the potential attack on Mr Tusk and the Minister of Defence is linked to the attacks on schools. Polish authorities have not yet released details of the information received. It is not known who is behind the threat, how the attack might be carried out, or whether security services have confirmed that there is an immediate threat to the Prime Minister and the Minister of Defence.
