Trump endorsed the decision, describing Leavitt as one of his most reliable allies. Leavitt, who became the youngest person in history to hold the office of press secretary, will step down from her position at the end of this month. On X, she stated that her time in the White House was 'an honour and a life adventure', but noted that following her return from maternity leave, she felt she could not be the best mother to her two young children. Her decision was made with motherhood taking priority.
During her tenure, Leva has experienced significant life changes. In May, she and her husband, Nicholas Riccio, welcomed a second child, a girl, expanding the family which already included a two-year-old son. Following the birth of her daughter, Leva returned to work, acknowledging that balancing care for a newborn while working in one of the world's most demanding roles was the most fulfilling yet challenging period of her life.
Despite leaving her official post, Leav is not stepping away from public life entirely. Trump has indicated that she will become one of his top external advisors.
