Ukrainian drones carried out a mass attack on the Moscow area during the night of 6 October, with one target allegedly being a large oil facility in the Moscow region.

According to the Exilenova Plus Telegram channel, a Ukrainian drone struck the Volodymyr Linear Production and Dispatching Centre near the village of Konstantinovo. The Kyiv Independent was unable to independently verify reports of the attack at the time. Anton Gerashchenko stated on his official X profile that the centre was burning in the Moscow region, noting that it was the largest oil storage facility and the main hub for pipeline transport in the region.

Moscow's mayor, Sergei Sobyanin, stated that at least 650 Ukrainian drones had been launched towards the region during the night. According to Sobyanin, most were destroyed by Russian air defence forces at a distance, while 105 drones were shot down as they approached Moscow.

Eyewitness footage allegedly shows flames erupting from the Volodymyr facility, with thick smoke rising above the area. Konstantinovo is located approximately 40 km from the centre of Moscow, while the facility is situated approximately 450 km from the Ukrainian border.

The Ukrainian Ministry of Defence stated on 4 October that more than 51 per cent of Russian oil refining capacity had been taken out of action.

Russian forces attacked Kyiv late on 5 October. Following the action of Ukrainian air defences, fragments of a destroyed drone fell into a residential area in the Peche district. According to a Kyiv Independent reporter at the scene, the debris fell among residential buildings, causing fires in cars.
