The director of the Croatian Institute of Public Health (HZJZ) Krunoslav Capak confirmed that water, air and plant analyses in the vicinity of the controversial landfill showed correct environmental parameters. These results were published following concerns expressed in the public and among the local population about possible pollution in that area.
Experts initiated detailed checks to clarify doubts and provide scientifically grounded information. The analysis was conducted specifically in response to previous concerns about potential pollution. The aim was to ensure transparent insight into the current state of the environment at that location.
According to available data, the quality of water in the immediate vicinity of the landfill is at a satisfactory level. In addition to the hydrosphere, attention was paid to other components of the ecosystem. The air in that area was also assessed as correct and harmless to health.
The monitoring included biological indicators. Plants in the vicinity of the landfill were assessed as correct. These findings indicate that there is currently no evidence of harmful impact from the plant on the vegetation in that specific area.
The HZJZ has announced that the situation will be monitored continuously. The results of this enhanced monitoring will be available to the public at regular intervals. Specifically, new data will be published twice a week. This ensures that up-to-date information on the state of the environment is continuously provided.
