The weather situation in Dalmasia remains tense, with no end in sight for the heatwave according to long-range forecasts. High temperatures are expected to persist through the coming week, suggesting that cooler conditions are not on the horizon in the near future.
From Sunday, 9 August, a slight drop in temperature of a few degrees is expected, but this trend is not long-lasting. Temperatures are likely to rise again from the same date, oscillating between 35 and 40 degrees. This scenario indicates that heat will remain the dominant feature of the weather in this part of Croatia for the next few days.
On the other hand, the American model AccuWeather offers a more optimistic picture for the end of the month. It states that a change in weather is expected by the end of August, specifically on 18 August. According to their projections, temperatures should then fall to around 30 degrees, and later drop below that threshold, bringing significant relief to the population.
Traditional forecasts, which rely on the church calendar, remain prevalent in public discourse. One such belief holds that the sun is most intense until the Feast of the Assumption, after which the heat subsides. Another popular claim links the end of the heatwave to the first rain after the Feast of the Assumption, after which temperatures are expected to stabilise in a range of 20 to 30 degrees.
Historical data shows that such expectations do not always materialise, as temperatures of 32, 33, and 34 degrees have been recorded in September in recent years. Experts warn that the reliability of long-range forecasts decreases with the length of the forecast period, so short-term forecasts should be monitored for more precise information.
