The first day of August has been marked by the continuation of a significant heatwave affecting the wider Dalmatian region. A red alert has been declared in the cities of Split, Knin, and Dubrovnik. This warning measure has been introduced due to extremely high temperatures, which pose a serious health risk to the population.
The whole of Croatia is currently under the influence of a strong heatwave. Across the country, the weather is very hot, with temperatures in some areas approaching 40 degrees Celsius. These temperatures indicate the extreme intensity of the heat currently characterising the country.
According to the Croatian Meteorological and Hydrological Service (DHMZ), the coming period will see sunny and very hot weather. In certain areas, there will be small and moderate cloud cover, but this does not alter the overall picture. Clouds will appear in the Gorski Kotar region in the afternoon, while the rest of the country will remain under the dominance of sunny conditions.
The public is advised to exercise caution and protect themselves from direct sunlight. The hot weather situation is not expected to change significantly in the immediate future, with relief only expected next week. High temperatures will persist for several more days, requiring extra caution, particularly for vulnerable groups in the population.
