The information regarding the return of a heat dome and extreme air temperatures, which appeared in the domestic media, has no basis on the synoptic charts. It is, as it turns out, a meteorological 'fake news' item, for which numerous queries from readers have been arriving at the editorial office throughout the day.
According to forecasts from the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF), in the next few days, temperature values in the shelter will be lower than the long-term average. On Wednesday, temperatures will be well below average, which further confirms that the forecast of extreme heat is unfounded.
A change, however, is expected by the end of September and the first days of October, when temperature values should once again be above the thirty-year average for the time of year we are in. This anomaly, however, should not be extreme.
Until the end of September, apart from the night of Friday, the atmospheric conditions in Dalmatia will be 'textbook'. On the night of Friday, a weakened disturbance will move across us, bringing local rain and instability. Mornings will be cool, even by the coast, with mornings in the hinterland bordering on winter.
Daily air temperatures will be pleasant and suitable for the late days of September. Daily temperature values will not be 'hot' in any way, let alone extreme, while there will be no shortage of sunshine in the coming days.
