Deputy Mayor Antonio Budimir and Antonia Kljajić, head of the Department for Social Affairs and General Affairs, received students and teachers from the Italian town of Altamure. The students and teachers are staying in Kaštela as part of a long-standing exchange with the Braća Radić School.
The partnership with the 'Federico II' high school has now lasted 13 years. During this period, friendships have developed among the students, teachers, and host families.
The director of the Braća Radić School, Marija Kezele, highlighted that this exchange takes place through direct cooperation between the two schools. She noted that the continuity and personal relationships are particularly valuable.
'A true friendship has been created among the colleagues and students, and this friendship continues. It is not a one-off meeting, but a collaboration that continues, and we hope will continue for a long time. The students are staying with the families of our students, which is the best way to learn the customs, way of life, and thinking of young people and their parents, and for both sides to learn hospitality and sharing,' said Kezele.
Budimir highlighted the importance of cultural exchange and the experiences that remain with young people after they finish school. 'We are delighted that the Braća Radić School has maintained a partnership with the school in Altamure for 13 years. Such encounters provide young people with new experiences, introducing them to different cultures and friendships they will remember fondly. I believe these experiences will encourage them to return to the places they have visited through the exchange. Kaštela is a town with a rich history that can offer our guests a great deal,' said Budimir.
Enrico, a student from Altamure, shared his positive impressions. This was his first visit to Croatia. During his stay, he participated in workshops and school activities, and with other students, he explored the towns and natural landmarks, including Krka National Park.
'This was a great experience for me because we discovered a culture that we could not have experienced in the same way at home. We learned a lot. When we young people meet and connect, we become more open, happier, and more ready for the future and for adult life. I love Croatia,' said Enrico.
