The Summer Tamburitza Camp 2026 officially began in Pleternica. The event brings together young musicians and enthusiasts of tamburitza tradition. Activities are spread over seven days. Participants will refine their skills under the guidance of pedagogues. This is the fifth edition of the camp. Its continuity underscores the significance of tamburitza music in preserving cultural heritage.
Nearly 50 participants have registered for the camp. They come from 12 Croatian counties. Alongside domestic participants, musicians arrived in Pleternica from Subotica. They also came from Sombor and Mostar. Their participation testifies to the broader cultural influence of this event. The gathering brings together generations of tamburitza players from various parts of the region.
The camp is organised by the Museum of Bećarac and the Croatian Society of Tamburitza Pedagogues. The programme is rich and diverse. It includes vocal workshops and bećarac workshops. Participants play together in an orchestra. Special emphasis is placed on the technical aspect of playing the tamburitza solo. There are specialised workshops for this instrument.
A new workshop has been introduced into the programme this year. It concerns playing the bagpipes. This broadens the musical horizons of the participants. The camp is educational in nature. Its aim is the transmission of knowledge to younger generations. The event gathers lovers of traditional music.
The director of the Pleternica Museum of Bećarac is Jasna Hoffmann. She is a key figure in the organisation. The president of the Croatian Society of Tamburitza Pedagogues is Saša Botički. Together they lead this educational event. Their work ensures a high-quality programme for all participants.
