The County Assembly of Lika-Senj has approved a draft decision to include the development of wind energy in the X amendments to the spatial plan. The process will define zones for the construction of wind farms and areas for assessing wind potential, as reported by Lika Club.
The areas considered include seven local administrative units: the towns of Gospić and Otočac, as well as the municipalities of Brinje, Perušić, Vrhovine, Udbina, and Plitvička Jezera.
According to the draft, the spatial plan must include provisions for implementation and zones for the construction of wind farms, as well as areas for assessing wind potential. The draft also stipulates rules for the installation of axial and vertical, so-called spinal, wind turbines in the county.
The adoption of the decision does not mean that construction will begin immediately at the specified locations. This is the first step in the spatial planning process, which will determine the potential locations and conditions for the development of such projects.
The zones that will ultimately be included in the spatial plan will be revealed through the continuation of the amendment process, in which the provisions for implementation are elaborated in detail for each town and municipality.
