President Zoran Milanović arrived in Omiš having come from Hvar, where he expressed deep support for all involved in the incident, which he described as horrific. During his stay on the ground, the president stressed that the situation may have been the result of something not purely natural, highlighting that people were caught off guard. In addition, he expressed great respect and gratitude to all who fought the fire, including those who were not firefighters but took part in the operation.
Milanović stated that he would personally inspect the area to see if there was any property damaged, but stressed that property was secondary to people. He recalled that the entire Hvar bay had been covered in smoke that morning, estimating the distance from Hvar to the site of the incident at almost 50 km. In the end, he assessed that there was no proper prevention against it.
Prime Minister Andrej Plenković was also in Omiš, where he held a meeting at the Plaža hotel in Omiš. Attending the meeting were the chief fire officer Slavko Tucaković, Split-Dalmatia County Croat Božana Boban and the mayor of Omiš, Zvonko Mačić. Alongside them, representatives of the fire service, civil protection, police and the Split University Hospital attended.
The Minister of Veterans, Tomo Morski, was with the prime minister at the meeting, as was Josip Tokić. All those present at the meeting discussed the current situation and the coordination of operations in the fight against the fire.
