The volunteer fire department in Kalinovac has received a new vehicle. It will be used for emergency interventions and the transport of members to fire department competitions, as reported by ePodravina.hr.

The handover ceremony took place in front of the Osnovna škola Ivan Lacković Croata (Ivan Lacković Croata Primary School) in Kalinovac. Attending the event were County Prefect Tomislav Golbić, MP, and the head of the municipality of Kalinovac, Darko Sobota, along with the commander of the local fire department, Željko Zalar.

The vehicle is valued at 10,000 euros. The county contributed 6,666.66 euros to the purchase, with the remainder of the cost covered by the municipality of Kalinovac.

In the current year’s budget, 280,000 euros have been allocated for the operations of the fire department in the Koprivnica-Križevci county and the development of fire services. An additional 66,000 euros is designated for the procurement of equipment for fire departments in the towns and municipalities of Koprivnica, Križevac, and Đurđevac.

"The investments we are making are a response to the challenges faced by firefighters today," said Prefect Golbić. He added that investing in the training of firefighters and the youth is a long-term investment in the stability of the system. The county, he noted, will continue to support the fire service in all its needs.

It was highlighted at the ceremony that the county regularly participates in the procurement of fire vehicles and protective equipment. The aim is to provide firefighters with better working conditions and greater readiness for emergency interventions.
