The defense lawyer Ljubo Pašović Visković stated on Thursday that the search of the home of the Hrvatski Olimpijski Odbor (Croatian Olympic Committee) general secretary, Siniša Krajač, was a standard police procedure in the course of the investigation. Although Krajač was the subject of the search, he was not arrested as there is currently no suspicion that he would commit a crime.
Pašović Visković explained that the USKOC (State Investigation and Coordination Office) often conducts searches of homes when there is no direct evidence against a specific person, but there are indications that relevant material evidence could be found there. Such searches are very common and often serve to gather evidence against that person or a third party.
During the operation, the director of the Hrvatski Olimpijski Odbor (Croatian Olympic Committee), Damir Šegota, and his wife were arrested, while Siniša Krajač’s home was searched. The lawyer emphasized that there is currently no suspicion against Krajač, which is the reason he was not detained.
Pašović Visković, who appeared on the N1 TV news, also spoke about the former secretary of the Croatian Ski Federation, Damir Raos. He believes that his additional questioning was likely beneficial for the USKOC in gathering information related to the investigation.
He also addressed the former spokesperson of the Croatian Ski Federation, Nenad Eror, who had previously been arrested but released on bail in connection with the embezzlement at the federation. Eror has not provided any new updates regarding the case, having presented his defense at the beginning of the proceedings.
