The defensive lawyer Ljubo Pausović Visković stated on Thursday that the search of the home of the general secretary of the Croatian Olympic Committee (Hrvatski olimpijski odbor), Siniša Krajač, was a standard police operation in the course of the investigation. Although Krajač was the subject of the search, he was not arrested as at the moment there is no suspicion that he would commit a crime.
Pausović Visković explained that the State Prosecutor's Office (USKOK) often conducts a search of the apartment when there is no direct evidence against a certain person, but there are indications that relevant evidence could be found there. Such searches are very common and often serve to collect evidence against that person or another person.
During the operation of the USKOG, the director of the Croatian Olympic Committee, Damir Šegota, and his wife were arrested, while the home of Siniša Krajač was searched. The lawyer stressed that there is no doubt about the fact that the person in question would commit a crime, which is the reason why he was not detained.
Pausović Visković appeared on the evening news of Nova TV, where he spoke about the former president of the Croatian Ski Association, Damir Raos. He believes that his additional examination was probably useful for the USKOG in collecting information related to the investigation.
He also commented on the former spokesperson of the Croatian Ski Association, Nenad Eror, who was previously arrested but released on bail in connection with the embezzlement in the association. Eror has no news related to the case, as the defence was presented at the beginning of the proceedings.
