The Krapina-Zagorje Police Directorate has reported two online scams recorded in the past few days in the areas of Donja Stubica and Pregrad. In both cases, citizens were defrauded during online purchases and communication with unknown individuals.

In Donja Stubica, a 32-year-old woman posted an ad for a corner sofa on the internet. An unknown person contacted her via a mobile application and arranged a purchase, after which she was sent a fake link. The woman opened the link and entered the details from her bank card, after which approximately 200 euros were deducted from her account.

The second incident was recorded in the area of Pregrad. A 19-year-old found an advertisement for a mobile device on social media on 23 September, arranged a purchase with the seller and paid approximately 400 euros. After opening the package, he discovered that the mobile phone he had ordered had not been delivered, but a different device instead.

The police are once again warning citizens to be cautious when buying and selling online and communicating with unknown persons. Citizens are advised not to open suspicious links, not to install applications at the request of unknown persons, and not to provide access details to bank accounts or mobile banking.

If you suspect you have become a victim of fraud, you should immediately contact your bank to block credit cards, accounts, and access to internet banking, and to check for suspicious transactions. It is important to save messages, e-mails, phone numbers, screenshots, and payment receipts, and to report the incident to the police.

In the event of doubt or receiving similar messages and calls, citizens can contact the police on 192. More information on types of cyber fraud and protection methods is available on the Web hero website.
