Police officers are intensively working to clarify the case of online fraud in which one person suffered significant financial loss. The incident occurred on 17 August, when a man in his sixties contacted an unknown person offering the sale of a wood processing machine.
After establishing communication, the two agreed on the terms of purchase for the specified equipment. Believing in the seriousness of the transaction, the victim made a payment of €2,400 to the requested account. However, after the payment, the promised machine was not delivered to the address specified in the contract.
When the buyer attempted to contact the seller, he realised he had been defrauded. The money paid was not refunded, and the unknown person no longer responds to messages or calls. This is a classic case of online fraud, where the money disappears without any compensation.
Police officers immediately reacted and initiated a search for the unknown perpetrator. The aim is to identify the person who used the online advertisement and misled the victim. The investigation is ongoing, with police continuing to conduct criminal investigations to determine all the circumstances of the offence.
Officers are gathering evidence and analysing digital traces to identify the perpetrator as soon as possible. Citizens are urged to exercise caution when purchasing second-hand or new equipment online, particularly when larger sums of money are paid in advance without a physical inspection of the goods.
