Three women in Dalmatia became victims of online theft, with total damage estimated at 15,800 euros. The attack was carried out via messages, and the victims, unfortunately, contributed to the crime by their own actions. Police stations in Korčula, Dubrovnik, and Ston received the report on 7 September, and criminal charges were filed with the relevant State Attorney’s Office in Dubrovnik.

It is stated that the women received a fake SMS message containing a link to update their banking application. Although this is a recognizable form of cybercrime, the victims opened the link and entered their personal login details, thereby allowing unknown perpetrators access to their bank accounts. This incident has once again highlighted the need for caution when entering sensitive data on suspicious websites.

The largest portion of money, exactly 8,000 euros, was lost by the 40-year-old victim. The second victim, a 50-year-old woman, lost approximately 3,800 euros, while the 52-year-old woman suffered a loss of 4,000 euros. The total damage, calculated by adding all the amounts, is 15,800 euros, which confirms the scale of damage caused by this coordinated attack.

Given that all three women filed reports, and the actions were conducted online, the police are required to conduct an investigation to determine the exact perpetrators. Although criminal charges have been filed, the investigation is only in its initial stages, and the police will continue with actions to clarify this crime. This case reminds citizens of the importance of caution when entering personal data on suspicious websites, and the need for caution when entering personal data on suspicious websites.
