A burglary was recorded in a family home in the wider Đakovo area, where an unknown thief stole cash and electrical appliances. The owner, a 59-year-old man, suffered damage of approximately 500 euros, and police are intensively searching for the perpetrator.
In a separate incident in the wider Belišće area, a burglar stole cash from a house between mid-September and the end of October. According to police, the offender exploited the serious health condition and helplessness of a 67-year-old woman. He stole 4,000 euros from her.
Both cases have been recorded and are under investigation, and police are urging citizens to exercise additional caution. Police stated that burglaries often occur when owners are absent or when they are confined to their homes due to health problems, a situation offenders are known to exploit.
Glas Slavonije reports that unknown perpetrators are being sought in both cases. The material damage in the Đakovo case is estimated at around 500 euros, while a significantly larger amount – 4,000 euros – was stolen in the Belišće case.
Police are appealing to citizens to lock their houses and auxiliary buildings and to report all suspicious persons and events to the competent authorities. They also recommend paying extra attention to elderly and helpless people living alone, as they are frequent targets of burglars.
