The city council of Sinj has decided that parents whose children, due to full capacity, are not enrolled in local preschools will receive 250 euros in monthly aid. This is a temporary social and demographic measure, with the decision made at the proposal of Mayor Miro Buljić.

The aid will be paid out from September of this year to June 2027. For families qualifying for the full ten months, this amounts to 2,500 euros in aid per child. The aim, as stated, is to help parents cover the costs of childcare during the period while their child is unable to attend preschool.

The right to aid can be claimed by parents of children with permanent residence in the area of the City of Sin who have submitted an application for the 2026/2027 academic year. The condition is that they have resided in Sin for at least one year prior to submitting the application, and the children must be on the waiting list. A provision is made for parents who, during the validity of the decision, withdraw their child from the nursery and submit a request for aid.

To claim the right, a written application must be submitted on a special form, with the competent administrative body of the City of Sin deciding on the right. Parents who submit their application by 15 October and meet the prescribed conditions are entitled to aid for September and October, while for applications submitted after that date, the right is granted from the first day of the following month.

The decision includes a restriction for parents who withdraw their child from the nursery: they are not eligible for aid for the period during which the child used the programme, nor for the period prior to submitting the application. This, according to the text of the decision, prevents the double use of funds for the same period.
