The city of Solin will subsidise children’s attendance at nurseries in other towns and municipalities, with the support amount reaching €316 per month per child. The decision was announced by Solin’s mayor, Dalibor Ninčević, who issued the Decision on subsidising the costs of children’s attendance at nurseries outside the area of Solin.

Eligible for the measure are children residing in the area of the City of Solin who have applied for enrolment at local nurseries in due time and met the required conditions, but were not enrolled due to a lack of capacity. The amount of monthly subsidy will depend on the programme the child attends.

For the ten-hour nursery programme, the city will allocate €316 per month per child, while for the ten-hour kindergarten programme, it will allocate €295. The payment for the six-hour programme will be €213.

Detailed information on the conditions, the method of claiming the benefit, and the application procedure will be available from tomorrow on the official website of the City of Solin. Applications can be submitted until 30 October 2026, with retroactive recognition from 1 September of this year for parents who qualify. The measure will be in effect until 31 August 2027.

Mayor Ninčević stated that the city is allocating significant budget funds for early childhood education, and that such expenditure is not seen as a cost, but as an investment in the future. The measure is intended as a temporary solution for families whose children, due to a lack of capacity, must attend nurseries outside of Solin, including those in the area of Split.

The long-term goal of the city administration is to increase capacity by building and opening several new nursery facilities in the next two years, so that all children can be offered a place in a nursery in the area of Solin. The city will continue to implement the measure of subsidising children’s attendance at nurseries in other local self-governing units until the conditions for this are met.
