A total solar eclipse was observed in Iceland, where temperatures dropped and darkness fell during the astronomical event. According to a description by Amele Nierenberg, a correspondent, night fell on the island, with the sun obscured by clouds. During the eclipse, only the sun’s corona and the moon’s shadow were visible, while birds behaved as if in twilight, their calls fading into the silence brought on by the sudden darkness.
In a live broadcast from Sky News, onlookers’ cries of awe were heard as they witnessed the rare phenomenon. Although the sun was not visible due to weather conditions, the atmosphere was charged with excitement, and locals and visitors alike witnessed the moment when total darkness fell. In Iceland, the temperature dropped sharply, underscoring the dramatic nature of the environmental shift.
In Croatia, the situation was different, with a partial solar eclipse beginning at 19:27. During this event, the moon passed in front of the sun, creating a visual spectacle that peaked just before the star set. The most spectacular view in Croatia was recorded at around 20:05, when the sun set in Zaghen while the eclipse was still in progress. Following the sunset in the capital, darkness was expected to fall, highlighting the uniqueness of the moment.
Images of the eclipse were captured from various parts of the country, including Zagreb and Primošten. While parts of Europe prepared for a total solar eclipse, Croatia enjoyed a partial view, which remained memorable for its spectacular sunset in Zagreb.
