A workshop titled 'Meteor Shower' was held in Đurđevac. The event was part of the Đurđevac OFF-GRID: Young People Without Borders initiative. This activity took place within the framework of the wider Young People's Week. The aim was to introduce astronomy to young people in a practical way.
The workshop was led by Branko Novosch. Participants acquired new knowledge through an interactive process. The focus was on meteors and meteor showers. Participants were also told interesting facts about space.
Special attention was paid to the Perseids. They are one of the most well-known meteor showers in the world. This phenomenon attracts many stargazers every year. The workshop allowed for a deeper understanding of this astronomical event.
The programme gained additional relevance due to the partial solar eclipse. This astronomical event could be observed on 12 August. The eclipse was also visible from the territory of Croatia. This gave the workshop a specific context.
Participants learned more details about the process of the eclipse. Special emphasis was placed on safety. The education covered the importance of safe observation of the Sun. The aim was to warn of the health risks associated with unshielded viewing.
