Firefighters in Split paid tribute to their colleagues who died in an accident on the island of Korčula. The memory of the deceased was marked with special respect, and representatives of fire brigades from various parts of the city attended. Special attention was paid to selected moments of remembrance, to preserve the memory of those who gave their lives in the service of protection and rescue.
The main part of the commemoration included the symbolic activation of the signal on fire engines. This gesture, lasting exactly one minute, was carried out at 15:24, as a sign of remembrance and respect for fallen colleagues. The symbolism is particularly highlighted, as it represents a moment of silence and remembrance for those who have left their lives in the line of duty.
In addition, the attendees had the opportunity to see 12 fire helmets, which were placed in front of the assembled firefighters. These helmets, as a symbol of the profession and sacrifice, further highlighted the gravity of the moment and the importance of remembering those who gave their lives in the service of protecting others. This act, along with others, contributed to the creation of a solemn atmosphere in which those present paid tribute to the deceased.
In total, the commemoration included several elements, including the symbolic activation of the signal, the placement of helmets, and the expression of respect for the deceased.
