Football friends from Zagrađe and Grižić paid their respects to Ivica Urešević over the weekend at the Glvašnjak stadium. The third edition of the memorial, held in his honour, was marked by an emotional sporting encounter between the two clubs.
The event began with a solemn gathering at the local cemetery in Zagrađe, where representatives of the clubs, along with family and friends, paid their respects to the late footballer. Participants lit lanterns in a symbolic gesture of remembrance for Ivica Urešević, a former teammate, friend, and prominent sportsman.
Urešević spent the majority of his football career playing for the clubs Graničar and Vatrogas, which is why these two clubs took the initiative to organise this traditional event. Through their efforts, the memorial has become a space where his memory is kept alive through sport and community.
Following the commemorative part, a friendly football match was played between Graničar from Zagrađe and Vatrogas from Grižić. The match was in the spirit of remembrance for Urešević, with the result taking a back seat to the value of the gathering and the respect shown to the late colleague.
The gathering continued after the match, with participants staying on for an evening of conversation. The joy lasted into the late evening, confirming the deep bond between the players, fans, and friends, and the enduring nature of the memory of Ivica Urešević.
