The municipality of Starigrad is holding celebrations for Victory Day and Thanksgiving and for Croatian Veterans, bringing citizens together through a series of cultural events. The programme is structured so that historical memory is linked with artistic expression, with the main part of the celebration taking place in the evening.
The programme begins at 19:00 on Zukva Square in the settlement of Selina. The marching band and majorettes from Velika will perform there, marking the traditional promenade. This part of the programme serves as an introduction to the festive parade which will set off shortly afterwards.
The procession will set off along Sv. Jurja Street at 20:00. The procession will move through the centre of the settlement, with its destination being Stjepan Radić Square in Star-in-the-saddle. This procession represents a visible symbol of unity and respect for the veterans, linking different parts of the municipality in a shared celebration.
Before the main part of the programme, a section dedicated to remembrance will take place. The laying of wreaths at the memorial platform in the new cemetery in Star-in-the-saddle will precede the concert, paying tribute to the fallen veterans. In addition, the programme includes the traditional laying of the flag on the Vitrenik, a local custom associated with these holidays.
Following the conclusion of the parade and the remembrance ceremony, Ivan Sikirić Ića will perform on the summer stage in Star-in-the-saddle. His concert will form the entertaining part of the evening, closing the celebration and offering the citizens the opportunity to socialise after the ceremonial parts of the programme.
