The local board of Zamet is organising a celebration of the Day of Victory and Gratitude, as well as the Day of Croatian Veterans. The event will take place on Monday, 3 August, at the Trg Rečkih olimpijaca 3. All events begin at 18:00.
The central part of the programme in Zamet includes laying wreaths and lighting candles at the memorial to fallen Croatian veterans from the Homeland War who are from this area. Alongside the organisers, members of the families of the fallen from Zamet and representatives of veterans' associations from the Homeland War will attend the ceremony.
The town of Krk is also marking these national holidays with special events, with the main date for the Day of Victory set for 5 August. The preparatory programme in Krk begins on Tuesday, 4 August, at 19:00 in front of the church of St Nicholas.
As part of the evening programme in Krk, the national anthem will be performed by Andrija Frlet. At the same time, the Croatian flag will be raised on the bell tower of St Nicholas' church, symbolically marking the start of the official activities related to the day of victory.
From 19:15 on the same day, 4 August, a series of traditional rituals will take place at the memorial to the veterans of the Homeland War. A prayer for the veterans of the Homeland War will be held, followed by the laying of wreaths and the lighting of candles.
