The independent list of Špiro Vlahović is the winner of the local elections in the Žrnović quarter. It secured four out of seven mandates, while HDZ and the Homeland Movement together won three mandates. HSS remained without a mandate.
According to the results, the list of Špiro Vlahović received 326 votes, and HDZ 308 votes, with the list overtaking HDZ by just 18 votes. HSS received 55 votes. The seventh and final mandate went to the Vlahović list, with the decisive fifth quotient: the list had 81.5, while HDZ had 77. Thus, the list secured a 4:3 ratio and control over the council in the seven-member body.
Vlahović is a prominent Split firefighter, Croatian defender, and member of the board of the Žrvanj Association. After the results were announced, he thanked the voters and sent a message to the new councillors. "Our list won the most votes in Žrnović. We cannot describe how grateful we are for every vote cast. Thank you to everyone who voted for other options. We are all – Žrnović!", said Vlahović.
He emphasised that the focus would be on local issues and communication with the city and county authorities. "We are on the side of the people, this is a local level and we will listen to the problems of the place and report them to the relevant authority," he said.
Vlahović announced cooperation with all councillors, regardless of political affiliation. "We want cooperation with all councillors, we want cooperation with the City of Split. There is no politics or political maneuvering at this level of government!" he declared. The elections thus brought a change in the balance of power, with HDZ losing the local election in the Žrnović quarter.
