The best song about the town of Županja has been declared to be "Moja Županja" by Marijo Vestić from Županja. The decision was made by Mayor Damir Juzbašić based on the proposal of a three-member committee.
Second place went to the song "Ovdi pripadam" by Ive Rešić from Županja, while third place was awarded to the song "Oj, Županjo" by Anđelko Antić Blažević from Zagreb.
The authors will receive cash prizes of 5,000 euros, 2,000 euros and 1,000 euros. The town decided last spring to launch a public call for the best song about Županja, with the aim of encouraging lyricists and composers and fostering a unique musical story about the town on the Sava river.
The public call was launched by Mayor Damir Juzbašić and was open from 1 May to 1 September. 15 applications were received. Participation was anonymous — works were submitted under pseudonyms, and the sealed envelopes containing the authors' details were opened only after the decision on the selection of the three top-ranked songs was made. The committee members had previously signed a declaration of impartiality and confidentiality.
The selected song will be performed at town celebrations, cultural and sporting events, various manifestations and on occasions when community spirit is particularly wished to be highlighted. It will also be recorded, a music video will be produced, and it will then be promoted and brought closer to the citizens.
