Members of Matica hrvatska from Vodice will gather on Thursday, 24 September 2026, at 19:00 at the Vodice Cultural Centre in Iva Čača Street 8 for an elective assembly. The aim of this meeting is to establish a Branch of Matica hrvatska in Vodice.
The event will be attended by the Deputy President of Matica hrvatska, Dr. Sci. Mario Jareb, and Mihovil Antić, Secretary for Branches. Their participation confirms that this is a project built with the support of the central headquarters, and not merely a local initiative.
Vodice is a dynamic environment in development, naturally and strongly oriented towards tourism. The establishment of a branch will directly contribute to the overall cultural progress of Vodice, as well as all surrounding settlements administratively linked to the town. The main goal of establishing the MH Branch in Vodice is to enrich the local scene and connect with the national cultural network.
Through the branch's work, interesting aspects from other areas will be brought closer to residents, offering high-quality content for cultural advancement. These contents will be realised through the organisation of forums and lectures of a professional-scientific nature, the preparation of artistic events, and concerts by renowned performers and authors. Particular emphasis will be placed on launching publishing activities thematically linked to the local cultural scene. Residents will thus be ensured easier access to recent and older publications of Matica hrvatska, in line with audience interests.
Residents of Vodice have been active members of Matica hrvatska since the distant 1880s. Over the decades, this activity has had its ups and downs, but the connection has never been completely severed. With the re-establishment of the Branch of Matica hrvatska in Vodice, a new chapter opens with the aim of making a stronger contribution to the cultural development of the town.
