A one-day market of local produce was held on Saturday at Mala Loža in the historic core of Šibenik. The event was organised as part of the 'Ajmo Lokalno' project of the Šibenik-Knin County.

The aim of the initiative is to revive the historical tradition of trading in that square, introduce authentic produce from the Šibenik region to citizens and visitors, and provide direct support to local growers and artisans through direct contact with buyers.

Stalls from local producers offered high-quality olive oil, local wines, traditional cured meats and dairy delicacies, honey, fresh fruit and vegetables, and high-quality natural cosmetics.

Šibenik-Knin County President Paško Rakić stated that Šibenik's Mala Loža is a perfect location for such events. He highlighted that the goal was to present the rich treasure of valuable family farms (OPGs).

Rakić noted that they have been helping family farms for years to ensure the shortest possible supply chain and that they support the 'Ajmo lokalno' project. According to him, it is important that the local population, tourists, and hospitality providers are aware of the existence of family farms.

The County President also emphasised that it is very important to bring the tradition back to a location like Mala Loža. He added that people are eager for such events and that, in agreement with the Šibenik city administration, efforts will be made to organise similar events at least once a week.
