Split's Riva hosted the first edition of the Điraton, a recreational event organised by the Split City Red Cross Society, on Saturday. The event attracted more than 800 registrants, while between 650 and 700 participants gathered at the start line.

The Điraton is designed as an incentive for healthier lifestyle habits and an opportunity for outdoor socialising. Numerous families came to the Riva, with intergenerational connection and the creation of healthy habits from an early age being among the event's main ideas.

Tanja Marinković, head of events at the Split City Red Cross Society, said that the Red Cross's primary, fundamental task is to promote health. She highlighted that they had organised a race, or rather a walk, for anyone wishing to take a step towards their well-being.

Tomislav Gojo, director of the Split City Red Cross Society, noted that the more than 800 registrations had exceeded the organisers' expectations. He emphasised that the Điraton is not conceived as a competition, but as an invitation to simpler and more accessible daily activity.

Gojo stated that the message is not that people must start running, but that they should walk. He believes that Split, with its natural and urban spaces, offers numerous opportunities for an active life, from Marjan and the Riva to Žnjan, the West Coast and the promenade on Duilov.

The idea is to hold the second Điraton on 7 April, on World Health Day. Gojo invited citizens who missed the premiere edition to join next year.
