The Vranovac hunting society in Vetovo once again marked the traditional feast of St Hubert, the patron saint of hunters. The celebration was attended by the hunters and their wives, who joined them for the Mass and the subsequent evening gathering.
The event began at the parish church of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Vetovo, where local parish priest Father Želimir Žuljević celebrated Mass in honour of the hunting feast. In his sermon, he spoke about the life of St Hubert and the significance of hunting, placing particular emphasis on the importance of preserving nature and the natural habitats of game.
Following the Mass, the hunters and their wives continued their gathering with a shared dinner and music at the Sene Blick restaurant in Vetovo. Popular singer Ivan Štivić, accompanied by the band of Zdravko Mandić, provided the entertainment.
Zdenko Maglajić, president of the Vranovac hunting society, highlighted that the society operates three hunting lodges for the Vetovo, Podgorje and Hrnjevac hunting groups. The society comprises around 60 members, who carried out a series of activities during the year, primarily voluntary work parties to maintain the society's building for member gatherings and a cold store for receiving shot game. The total value of this year's investments exceeds 15,000 euros.
