The handball players of RK Ardeia from Dubrovnik have won the title of Croatian champions in the men's category at the HEP tournament at the State Final of the Plazma Sports Games. With this success, the club confirmed its dominance in the youngest category, with the title going to players born in 2011 and younger. The tournament is part of a broader competitive programme that brings together top young talents from across the country.
In the women's category, the cup was taken by ŽRK Metković. The team, consisting of Antea Kuran, Anamaria Volarević, Ana Kuran, Ema Delija, Petra Družanić, Rea Erceg, Marta Bule, Cvita Bebić, Antea Šiljeg, Ana Klobučić, Lana Veraja and Iva Erkić, was led by Rudolf Ćužić, who guided the girls to the title of Croatian champions in this discipline.
In addition to the winners, other awards were presented at the finale. MRK Kozal won silver in handball, becoming the vice-champion of Croatia at the Sports Games. In the 3x3 discipline, the team of Kast also won a silver medal, becoming the vice-champion of the country. The Kast team won silver at the 3x3 Sprite Cup in the category for players born in 2013 and younger, despite losing the final match.
The members of the Kast team who won silver were David Bielić, Ivano Radovčić, Mateo Lukić, Roško Kučić, with Eugene Tončinić as their coach. Their success was part of a larger sports event that included more than 2,500 children and young people from across Croatia who qualified for the final. The Plazma Sports Games are recognised as the largest amateur sports event in Europe.
The State Final of the Plazma Sports Games is held in Rijeka, where the competitions take place in two shifts. In the first shift, the competitions of the 3x3 Sprite Cup, the Gen-I Cup in volleyball, the HEP tournament in handball, tennis and the Kinder Joy tournament in table tennis are held. The second shift includes the Tommy tournament in small football for 12-year-olds, beach volleyball, the Wiener tournament in chess and the Coca-Cola Cup.
The Coca-Cola Cup stands out as the largest football tournament in Europe. In addition to handball and small football, competitions in the border guard and athletics have already taken place in July as part of the Telemach Day of Sport. During August, Kvarner will host nine more sports disciplines, continuing the series of competitions for young athletes.
